Before the arrival of Tony Lockett, Mohr stood clear as St Kilda's No.1 goalkicker. He was a good mark, but relied more on ground skills and in-built goal sense to be a prolific goalscorer.

Like Lockett in later years, he had the capacity to provide a spark of hope to Saints fans on even the darkest of days. He had the ability to pounce on the ball after seemingly being out of contention and he became one of the most outstanding full-forwards in an era noted for producing the greatest batch of goalkickers in the game's history.

It was significant that in this era of great full-forwards, Mohr usually earned selection in the post for Victoria. He was the first Saint to score more than 100 goals in a season, and one of his more remarkable feats was scoring 10 of St Kilda's 14 goals in a 1930 match against a Collingwood side regarded as the best of all time.

In the last few years of his career, Mohr played more frequently as a half-forward, before ankle problems forced him into retirement.
