From pick 58 in the 2007 Rookie Draft to the 62nd captain of the St Kilda Football Club, it has been a whirlwind nine seasons for newly appointed skipper Jarryn Geary.

Taking the reigns from Nick Riewoldt, the 28-year-old defender will front a new-look leadership team of Jack Steven, Seb Ross, Mav Weller, Josh Bruce, Dylan Roberton, Jack Newnes and David Armitage.

Before the Geary leadership begins, we take a look back through his career through photos - from the Rising Star nomination to his two-goal effort vs Melbourne and everything in between.

Jarryn Geary, this is your (football) life.

A rookie list gem, Gears was drafted from Bendigo Pioneers with pick 58 in the 2007 Rookie Draft

Making an immediate impression, he was thrusted straight into the round one side - collecting 21 disposals and nine marks in a debut win over Sydney in 2008

A Rising Star nomination in Round 8, 2009 highlighted Gears' potential as a defender and future leader

Even in the infant stages of his career, Geary showed the defensive want that today makes him an integral part of the St Kilda side

Not only getting the job done in the air...

...but at ground level, too

By 2012, Geary had stamped himself as a pillar in the St Kilda defence

No stranger to leadership, Geary took the reigns from an absent Nick Riewoldt for our New Zealand clash vs Carlton in Round 4, 2015

A team-first defender who puts his body on the line when he pulls on the red, white and black...

...Gears' hard work has been recognised with a second place finish in the 2016 Trevor Barker Award, along with the Lenny Hayes Player Trademark Award that year and Robert Harvey Best Clubman Award in 2015

But honestly, who can forget his not one...

...but TWO goal effort vs Melbourne in Round 17, 2016 ¯_(ツ)_/¯

With the baton now passed, here's to a successful tenure under Jarryn Geary and the new look leadership team!
