ST KILDA will unveil two new players for Saturday night’s season opener against Gold Coast.

Dylan Roberton and Tom Hickey will be the 1552nd and 1553rd players to represent the club after they were named in the squad of 22 to travel to Metricon Stadium.

The pair crossed to the Saints at the end of 2012 from rival AFL clubs.

Hickey will take the field against the team he called home for the past two years, having represented the Suns in 12 games.

He arrived at the Saints in the 2012 trade period.

Melbourne-raised Roberton returned to his home city after three years on Fremantle’s list where he played 37 games, including two finals. He became the first player to join St Kilda under the AFL’s new free agency rules.

Three other new Saints fell just short of making their club debuts with Nathan Wright, Tom Lee and Trent Dennis-Lane named as emergencies.

Defender Sean Dempster missed out through injury, but Rhys Stanley was named in the team after missing the final two matches of the NAB Cup with a knee injury.

Midfielder Leigh Montagna will have to watch on from the sidelines as he serves a suspension carrying over from 2012.
