ST KILDA’S VFL aligned team Sandringham Zebras has received a boost with senior coach Simon McPhee signing a contract extension until the end of 2014.

The Zebras made the announcement at their guernsey presentation function on Wednesday night.

Sandringham General Manager John Mennie said he was happy to have McPhee commit to the club beyond this season.

“The club is really excited to have Simon sign on for another year beyond 2013,” Mennie said.

“He has been our senior coach since last year and we are pleased to secure him until the end of 2014.”

McPhee said he was happy to sign the contract extension which combines with his role as a development coach at St Kilda.

“I’m looking forward to continuing to develop Sandringham’s young list and building this team into the future,” McPhee said.

McPhee’s first season as Zebras coach last year resulted in a finals appearance one year after he left WAFL club Claremont which he coached to a premiership in 2011.

St Kilda's Head of Football Chris Pelchen echoed Sandringham's sentiment.

"We are pleased to have Simon extend his contract with the Zebras,” Pelchen said.

“Simon has played an important role in developing players at both Sandringham and St Kilda and we look forward to him continuing into 2014.”
