St Kilda Football Club has thanked Ali Drennan for her services after the on-baller was traded to Gold Coast in exchange for a second-round pick.
The Saints received pick No. 24, on-traded from the Lions, as part of a deal on the last day of the AFLW Trade Period, strengthening the club’s hand heading into this year’s draft.
St Kilda currently holds draft selections No. 6 (Vic 4), No. 24 (16), No. 34 (20), No. 40 (23) & No. 57 (33).
After being drafted to North Melbourne off the back of her best-and-fairest year for the Southern Saints, Drennan returned to the red, white and black during last season’s trade period.
The 29-year-old played five games for St Kilda after making her debut in Round 2 against Adelaide.
Head of Women’s Football Jamie Cox said the club wished Drennan all the best as she embarks on the next chapter of her AFLW career.
“It’s always sad to lose quality people like Ali, but we’ve supported her seachange request for she and husband Jason to relocate to Queensland,” Cox said.
"We’d like to thank Ali for everything she’s given to the club and the Crest at AFLW and VFLW level, and wish her and Jason all the best for the seasons ahead.”
Drennan was inducted as a member of St Kilda’s leadership group in 2020 and was a joint-recipient of the Southern Saints’ inaugural best-and-fairest alongside Rhi Watt.
The Saints signed defenders Jayde Van Dyk and Bianca Jakobsson during this year’s trade blitz, while also bidding farewell to Jess Sedunary, who returned to South Australia to be closer to family.
