St Kilda’s VWFL side has exploded into Season 2020, going undefeated in four matches on Day 1 of the Robert Rose Foundation Victorian Wheelchair Football League competition.
After a long COVID-enforced wait, the Saints kicked off their campaign at MSAC in stunning fashion to overcome Collingwood, Hawthorn, Essendon and reigning Premiers, Richmond.
The Magpies were the first cab off the rank for the red, white and black, who couldn’t wait to return to the court for the first time over a year.
Collingwood got the jump early, scoring five quick goals within 10 minutes, but led in the middle by captain Ryan Smith, the Saints clawed their way back.
Smith turned the game on its head, scoring five of St Kilda's six majors for the match, while new Saint Jordan Kinnburgh looked lively up front to confirm the 17-point win.
Hawthorn was next, and when 2018 league best-and-fairest winner Patrick McKay moved into the middle, Smith elevated to another level.
Caitlyn Alger similarly starred, piecing together her best game for the club as the Saints ran out 29-point victors.
The Bombers couldn't stop St Kilda's roll the following match.
Another well-rounded team effort, boosted by a quick start, saw the Saints never headed in the comfortable 36-point win.
The red, white and black had officially found their mojo, but saved their best for last in the biggest clash of the day against Richmond.

Vice-captain and former Tiger Nayte Wilburn was determined to lead from the front, but after a strong opening to the match, was forced to the sidelines with a finger tendon injury.
The Tigers took a two-goal advantage into the main break, before a second-half rally saw the challenging Saints close the gap in the final minutes and clinch the lead a brilliant nine-point triumph.
St Kilda will return to MSAC next week for Rounds 6-10 of this year's condensed competition, before the finals series commences the following week.
