St Kilda Football Club has secured GWS Giant Jack Steele after a trade deal was finalised between the clubs today.
In exchange, the Giants have received the Saints’ future second round pick for the 2017 NAB AFL draft.
Recruited from Belconnen Football Club with pick No. 24 in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft, the 20-year-old midfielder was the first GWS Giant to be drafted through the club’s academy in Canberra.
Steele debuted in Round 12 of the 2015 Toyota AFL season, playing 17 games over two seasons with the Giants after hand and foot injuries cut his 2016 season short.

St Kilda Chief Operating Officer & General Counsel Ameet Bains said that the talented midfielder is a welcome addition to the Saints line up.
“We’re thrilled to have Jack join the Saints and with his ability to play both in the midfield and forward, we think he’ll strongly complement our young, emerging list while filling a key need,” Bains said.
“Jack’s had some strong performances and at only 20-years-old we think he has a lot of potential to continue to develop and be a quality player for the club.”
