Jack Hayes has officially been added to St Kilda’s playing list as part of the pre-season Supplemental Selection Period (SSP).
The Woodville-West Torrens recruit has been a consistent performer this pre-season after being invited to join the club in December, putting his best foot forward to earn a place in the squad for 2022.
Hayes’ most recent SANFL campaign included South Australian captaincy honours, an equal-third finish in the Magarey Medal, as well as the prestigious Jack Oatey Medal for his best-on-ground Grand Final performance as the Eagles secured back-to-back premierships.
“I’m thrilled to have been given the opportunity to join the Saints,” Hayes said.
“Training here for the past few months has been incredible and only made me want this more.
“I’m looking forward to really embracing the year and proving myself to my teammates, coaches and the Saints fans.”
The 25-year-old joins fellow Woodville-West Torrens recruit Cooper Sharman on the Saints’ rookie list.
“We’re really pleased to offer Jack a contract for Season 2022,” Head of List Management James Gallagher said.
“Jack has put in a mountain of work since being invited to train with the club this pre-season and his desire to make the most of this opportunity has been evident in his competitiveness and professionalism both on and off the field.
“We look forward to seeing him continue to grow throughout the year.”
Hayes will wear the No. 47 while in red, white and black.
St Kilda still has one place on its list remaining, with an extra spot available should the injured Nick Coffield be moved to the inactive list.
The pre-season Supplemental Selection Period will close on Saturday 9 March, with the club able to keep list spots open ahead of the 2022 Mid-Season Rookie Draft in June.
