The Saints’ backline is poised for reinforcement with Dougal Howard eyeing a return pending a fitness test on Thursday.

Additionally, Hunter Clark and 2025 recruit, Jack Carroll could also return this week, should they too earn the final tick of approval during Thursday’s session.

“Dougal has been very diligent in his recovery, having done everything possible to get his body in the best shape to play post-surgery,” EGM Football David Misson said.

“It’s also an exciting time for Jack Carroll as he looks to make his return to play after showing promising signs in his first two VFL hit-outs earlier this year.”

Excitingly, Mattaes Phillipou’s return to football is hopefully inching closer, as the midfielder continues to rebuild his training volume ahead of running out for the first time in 2025.

Max King is recovering well after undergoing a knee arthroscope last Thursday.

“Once Max has had some more time to heal post-op, we’ll be able to provide a more definitive idea of his estimated return timeframe," Misson said.

“We’re taking a long-term approach to Max and will not rush him back before he’s ready."
