Sandringham has saved its best 'til last with a comprehensive 53-point victory over the Northern Blues in the final round of the season.
Ed Phillips (27 disposals, six tackles) led the charge in the 10.1 (61) to 16.18 (114) trouncing, while Jack Mayo and Darragh Joyce kept the scoreboard ticking over with three goals apiece.
The Zebras jumped out of the blocks after booting the game’s first five majors, with their emphatic opening term paving the way for their highest score of the year.
Phillips, who enjoyed his best game of the season, was exceptional by foot and highlighted his physical strength on several occasions, while Mayo clunked 10 marks in a promising display.

Joyce’s versatility has emerged towards the back-end of the season; the Irishman playing his hand in the understaffed ruck (15 hit-outs, seven marks, six tackles) and forward departments alongside Sandringham’s Kai Owens.
The Zebras brought the heat all afternoon and were exciting to watch, exerting their physical presence through their tackling dominance (+29) and harassment when the Blues were coming out of defence.
Oscar Clavarino (19 disposals, nine marks) and Jonathon Marsh (15 disposals, one goal) were terrific in defence, with the former’s intercept work increasingly prominent over the last few weeks.

Marsh, meanwhile, continued to show his leadership and on-field presence; his aggressive style of play opening the door for several Sandringham scores.
Dogged defender Bailey Rice (17 disposals, eight marks, five tackles) was exceptional across the afternoon, seldom losing a contest at ground level or in the air.
Rice’s efforts across half-back were complemented well by Daniel McKenzie (15 disposals, six marks) and Brandon White (11 disposals), who played up forward late in the game.
Ben Paton (21 disposals, six tackles), Doulton Langlands (20 disposals) and Robbie Young (20 disposals, four marks) were also impressive, with the latter running out the majority of the game through the midfield.
Sandringham finishes the 2019 Hard Yakka/Totally Workwear VFL Season in 12th position with six wins and 12 losses.
