Homegrown talent Mitchito Owens has committed to St Kilda, signing a four-year extension that will see him remain in the red, white, and black until at least the end of 2029.
One of three St Kilda Next Generation Academy graduates currently on the club’s list, Owens had no hesitation in putting pen to paper ahead of the 2025 season.
“I love this club. I’ve practically grown up here, and it’s a great feeling to know I’ll remain at Moorabbin for another four years,” Owens said.
“I live with some of my best mates, Windy (Marcus Windhager) and Nas (Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera), just around the corner, and I get to play footy for a living - I know how lucky I am to be in this position, and it’s not something I take for granted.
A Bayside local, Owens has laced up for 53 games across his first three years at senior level. A breakout second year in 2023 saw the 21-year-old play every senior game across the past two seasons.
“Mitch is a well-loved member of our playing group, and we’re all really looking forward to seeing him continue to build on what’s already been a great start to his career,” EGM Football David Misson said.
“Mitch is dedicated to his craft and doing all he can to improve as quickly as possible.
“We see a bright future ahead for Mitch and are very glad it’ll be in Saints colours."
St Kilda will kick off its 2025 campaign in Round 1 against the Crows in Adelaide on Sunday 16 March.
