St Kilda wheelchair team has seen its season has come to an end on Sunday, falling to Collingwood by 42 points in the Second VWFL Semi-Final.
The Saints had come into the clash finishing 3rd on the ladder but were jumped by the Pies in the opening quarter, with the quick attacking offence of the black and white seeing Ryan Smith’s side playing catch-up footy.
Smith himself managed to work his way into the game, connecting well with Tyler Nash up forward while Liam Fitzgerald was impressive down back.
Nathan Wilburn was a dominant force in the ruck after returning to the game following medical concerns, while Patrick McKay helped transfer the footy across all three lines to provide Smith and Nash with scoring opportunities.
However, the fast start from Collingwood would ultimately prove too much as the Saints fell by seven goals to see an end to their finals campaign.
Wilburn's performance would earn a nomination in the VWFL Team of the Week, while Nash and Brady Cochrane were in the VWFL Development Team of the Week.
Thanks to Pepper Money for their continued support of our VWFL and VBFL programs across the year.
