Veteran star Nick Riewoldt was St Kilda’s sole recipient of Coaches votes from Saturday night’s 30-point loss to Melbourne, earning two votes for his impressive performance.

Riewoldt, 34, was one of only a handful of Saints to stand up in the disappointing season opener, booting four goals from 14 disposals and seven marks (three inside 50).

The six-time Trevor Barker Award winner was taken from the ground in the dying minutes of the game after hyperextending his right knee, but he has avoided serious injury and is expected to return in the next couple of weeks.

Young Melbourne midfielder Clayton Oliver received the most votes from Alan Richardson and Simon Goodwin, after the 19-year-old accumulated 36 possessions (14 contested), nine clearances and seven tackles in a brilliant display.

Five players across the competition earned the maximum amount of votes in Round 1, with Dustin Martin (Richmond), Dayne Beams (Brisbane), Ollie Wines (Port Adelaide), Rory Laird (Adelaide) and Josh Kennedy (West Coast) all earning 10 votes.
