Tim Membrey is in the frame to return to play this week in some pleasing Saints injury news.
The influential 28-year-old has been sidelined with a knee complaint since the pre-season.
He will be required to pass a fitness test this week to make himself eligible for selection.
“We’re buoyed at the possibility of Tim playing this week,” Acting General Manager of Football David Misson said.
“Tim is a vocal leader on and off the field, something all of our players benefit from.
“Should Tim tick all the boxes this week, he’ll definitely be a talking point at the selection table.”
Meanwhile, Jack Bytel has escaped serious injury to his ankle, scans have confirmed.
The 23-year-old was brought to ground awkwardly in the fourth quarter of Saturday night’s win against the Suns, seeing him leave the field.
“Jack has avoided serious injury which is great, especially given his recent run of bad luck,” Misson said.
“We’ll monitor how his ankle heals this week and have a better idea on his return to play timeframe after that.”
Jacks Steele and Billings are also closing in on their respective comebacks, while Jimmy Webster faces around a month on the sidelines.
