St Kilda’s fixture for the 2023 AFLW Season has today been confirmed, with the AFL announcing a 10-game season which will kick off in the first week of September.

The Saints will open this year’s campaign on the road against North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos at Hobart’s Blundstone Arena; the first of two interstate ventures for the season. Essendon is the next match-up at Windy Hill, before the red, white and black return to RSEA Park for back-to-back home games against Port Adelaide and Collingwood.

Matches against Hawthorn, GWS Giants and the Brisbane Lions will also be played at RSEA Park in Rounds 6, 7 and 9 respectively, with the game against the Giants serving as Sir Doug Nicholls Round, which will be spread across two rounds.

St Kilda will travel to Fremantle to face the Dockers in Round 8 in continuation of Sir Doug Nicholls Round, while Pride Round will be celebrated in Round 10 against Carlton at Ikon Park; the date and time of which are yet to be confirmed.

Five of the Saints’ 10 games will be played on Sunday afternoons, with a Friday night Grand Final Public Holiday blockbuster against the Western Bulldogs at Whitten Oval in Round 5 serving as the club’s sole prime-time appearance of the 2023 season.

“We’re really happy to have the fixture finalised after ongoing conversations and, as we’ve always been, are ready to tackle the season head-on,” Head of AFLW Tessie McManus said.

There are some really exciting opportunities for us to test ourselves against quality opposition, away from home and on the prime-time stage and we will embrace everything which comes our way as we look to take strides forward on-field in 2023.

- Head of AFLW Tessie McManus

"While we want to see as many Saints fans packing the stands for the season ahead, to have our first five matches of the year broadcast live and free on Channel 7 is a terrific result and one we hope further drives the growth of the women’s game.

“We’ll have some additional, exciting fixture announcements which we’ll confirm in due course, but we strongly encourage all Saints fans to get involved as the club celebrates its 150th year.”
