Jack Steele will lead the red, white and black as captain for a fourth consecutive season as St Kilda officially locks in its five-man leadership group for 2024.
The reappointed skipper - going into his third season as standalone captain - will again be supported by vice-captain Callum Wilkie, with dual All-Australian Jack Sinclair, two-time Best & Fairest Seb Ross and Rowan Marshall in his first official leadership role rounding out the team.
Between them, the 2024 leadership group shares six Trevor Barker Awards, five All-Australian blazers and over 700 games’ experience to help drive the Saints forward this season and beyond.
“I’m very proud to captain the side for another season and it’s an honour that means a great deal to me,” Steele said.
“I’m fortunate enough to lead alongside a strong and talented group, who are all fantastic leaders in their own right and have the drive to take this club forward.
“Sincs has grown so much as a leader in such a short space of time, Cal’s support as vice-captain and Seb’s experience have been incredible for me, and I’m excited to see what Rowan can bring to the table in his first year with the group.
St Kilda’s leadership group was voted on by players before receiving endorsement from the club’s coaching panel and Board.
“We’re very pleased with our leadership group for this coming season and congratulate all five players on their selection,” Executive General Manager of Football David Misson said.
“Led by captain Jack Steele, our group embodies the on-field and off-field traits that are essential to seeing our club improve upon last year’s campaign and propel us to where we are all striving to be.
“In his first formal leadership role, Rowan has a fantastic opportunity ahead of him to entrench himself as a leader of the club, and we look forward to seeing what he and our leadership group can achieve.
“Tim Membrey will continue to play an integral leadership and mentor role as a part of our playing group, as he looks to work closely with our young forwards and draftees.”
