Hunter Clark will miss Friday’s match simulation against Essendon, however is on track for a return against North Melbourne in the AAMI Community Series.
Clark headlines a list of Saints on the sidelines who are looking to make their respective comebacks prior to the season proper.
Zak Jones, who was concussed during training late last week, and Jack Sinclair will also seek to make themselves available for the trip down the highway to face Geelong in Round 1.
Dan Butler and Paddy Dow are both touch-and-go for the opening rounds, however are progressing well as they rehab respective ankle and knee injuries.
Jack Hayes (knee) is upping his load as he continues his path back from post-season surgery, as is James Van Es (ankle).
Meanwhile, Ben Paton has successfully undergone surgery to repair a pectoral tendon rupture.
“Hunter is currently training non-contact, but we won’t rush him back this week,” Executive General Manager of Football David Misson said.
“Zak will continue to work through concussion protocols, which we will continue to monitor closely.
“As for Jack Sinclair, it’s about making sure his body is tip-top for the season proper so we’ll manage his workload over the coming weeks.”
