First-year Saint Angus Hastie is primed to make his debut against Essendon this Saturday, coming in as one of three inclusions for Round 3.
The 18-year-old draftee joins the returning Anthony Caminiti and Dan Butler as the Saints aim for two wins on the bounce, with the incoming trio taking over from Max King (suspension), Mason Wood (injured) and Liam Henry (injured).
Taken at pick No. 33 in last year’s national draft, the 190cm prospect breaks into the line-up off the back of an impressive VFL performance last week against Collingwood. Although drafted originally as a defender, Hastie finished the game with 17 disposals and a goal playing as a wingman.
The Geelong local will be the fifth St Kilda debutant this year, joining fellow first-years Darcy Wilson and Lance Collard, plus Saints first-gamers Riley Bonner and Henry.
First-years Arie Schoenmaker and Hugo Garcia along with veteran ruckman Tom Campbell have been named as emergencies.
