St Kilda has joined forces with the Mornington Peninsula Junior Football League (MPJFL) to further its commitment to nurturing and championing grassroots football within the bayside region.
The MPJFL has an extensive and rich history dating back over 50 years, with the competition now consisting of 14 clubs and 132 teams from Under-9s to Under-17s levels across both the boys’ and girls’ divisions.
Today’s exciting announcement follows on from St Kilda’s existing partnerships with the Southern Metro Junior Football League (SMJFL) and Frankston District Junior Football League (FDJFL), which sees the club’s community influence officially extend from Port Melbourne to Portsea.
“We’re thrilled to align with the MPJFL and strengthen our commitment to supporting junior football across the region,” St Kilda Chief Executive Officer Carl Dilena said.
“This partnership allows us to further realise our commitment of helping build a thriving and successful football heartland in the south, with our strong relationships between the SMJFL and FDJFL bearing plenty of positives to-date.”
AFLW young gun and Beleura Junior Sports Club alum Ash Richards hails from the MPJFL, with the Saints hoping to increase the number of AFL/W-listed players from the MPJFL over the coming seasons through the new community partnership, to help act as role models for participation.
As part of this initiative, participants in the MPJFL will receive ticketing offers to St Kilda home games, access to the Danny Frawley Centre’s facilities for mental health workshops, plus special activations and player appearances as part of the Mornington Peninsula STK Fan Engagement Zone.
‘We’re immensely proud to announce our partnership with St Kilda, a club renowned for its rich history and passion for the community,” General Manager of MPJFL Ben Lawrence said.
“At the heart of this partnership lies a shared commitment to fostering a love for the game and nurturing fans within our community. Together with St Kilda, we aim to ignite passion, inspire participation, and create lasting memories for fans and players.
“Through collaborative initiatives, events and activations, we’re hoping to make the Peninsula a breeding ground for St Kilda supporters for years to come.”
