Ryan, Peta, welcome to the pilot Saints Spotlight! We’re stoked to have you here. To kick things off for us, what’s your favourite item to grab from the Linton Street Cafe?

Ryan: Coffee is a must, a small double shot latte.

Peta: A chai latte for me!

Now that the hard-hitting questions are out of the way, tell us about your roles.

Ryan: I’m the Consumer Sales Manager. I look after the Consumer Sales Reps, manage their day-to-day and basically assist the team in pushing us towards our membership and revenue targets.

Peta: I’m the Marketing Lead. I work closely with the sponsorship team to build on the creative and deliverables for our fantastic partners.

How long have you both been at the Saints?

Ryan: In my most recent iteration, I’ve been at the Saints since October last year, but I used to work at the Saints three and a half years ago as a sales rep.

Return of the prodigal Saint! In your first stint, how long were you here for?

Ryan: I think I was here for six to seven months, cut short due to COVID.

Great to have you back, Ryan!

Ryan: It’s good to be back!

How about you, Peta?

Peta: Today is my three-month anniversary!

Congratulations! We’re sure no two days are ever the same, but what are some regular tasks and responsibilities you have in your role?

Ryan: One of my main roles is ensuring that my team have up-to-date call lists and an adequate amount of people to reach out to. I also oversee reporting on performance from a sales position and output perspective - they’re probably the two keys each week.

Peta: Meeting with partners and taking them through the creatives or deliverables that we’ve been working on, helping come up with new integration ideas and concepts, building pitch decks to take back to partners then working through how they will all role out with our internal teams.

What’s been your most memorable moment working at the Saints?

Ryan: Probably the win against the Pies earlier this year, to have that on Spud’s Game, seeing every single team in this office being a part of it, to cap it off with a win at the MCG was huge.

Peta: The first home game I was involved in being Spud’s Game and beating Collingwood was just really special, and being on the ground for the two-minute moment was breathtaking.

What things do you like to do when you’re not working at the Saints?

Ryan: It’s no secret in the office I love my golf. I’m also a bit of a footy nuffy and I love to cook!

Peta: What can you not find me doing?! I’m interested in a lot of things - I play indoor beach volleyball (we won our first game last night), I do a lot of painting, drawing and I love up-cycling furniture. I’m big on cooking too, as well as going to the beach with my partner and dog.

Ryan, what's your favourite golf course and recipe to cook?

Ryan: Rosebud Country Club and lamb shoulder.

Peta, what’s your favourite dish to cook?

Peta: Anything Asian. Stir-fries, dumplings, you name it.

Ryan, Peta, your fellow employees have lodged some personalised employee choice questions and I have selected one for each of you.

Ryan, what did you learn from your first stint at St Kilda that has helped you in your second?

Ryan: In my first stint at St Kilda, we were chasing 50K members and we were on track to smash that record up until a week before the season started and COVID spread. While we didn’t get there before I left, I learnt that the true Saints supporters and fan base are so loyal. To still break records that year and to hold on to most of our members was pretty cool.

Peta, what is a common misconception about working in footy?

Peta: Good question, when I started at the Saints, people thought I was moving into a heavily male dominated industry, but there’s so many wonderful women working at this club, we have such a strong presence, and we love to see it!

Stay tuned for the next monthly edition of Saints Spotlight to learn more about the dedicated people and inner workings of the St Kilda Football Club.
