A COLLECTION of former St Kilda players gathered on Wednesday for the funeral of Mary Jeans, wife of 1966 premiership coach Allan Jeans.
Mary passed away on January 2, aged 77.
At a large funeral at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Cheltenham, friends paid their respects and joined her children David, Peter, Liz and Louise in commemorating a rich life.
Mary was grandmother to 10 children.
There was a strong St Kilda representation at the service for Mrs Jeans.
Allan’s former teammates Brian Gleeson, Brian McCarthy, Peter Clancy and Brian Muir attended along with players who had played under Allan’s coaching such as Russell Greene, Kevin Roberts, Gary Colling and Bruce Duperouzel.
The 1966 premiership side was strongly represented with Ross Smith, Barry Breen, Alan Morrow and Ian Synman all in attendance.
Mary passed away less than 18 months after her husband, who died in July, 2011.
