A select group of St Kilda’s emerging leaders will face a mysterious three-day camp, starting tomorrow, as part of the clubs pre-season campaign.

Following the club’s successful visit to the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in Canberra last year by first-to-fourth year players, the Saints are set to embark on another physically and mentally challenging assignment.

In a similar manner to the AIS camp, this year’s group of emerging leaders will be left in the dark regarding what will be undertaken during the camp and where it will be held.

GM of Football Performance, Jamie Cox, revealed the club was looking forward to seeing which players would stand up during the camp and discovering who would stamp themselves as future leaders.

“One thing we know in footy and in life is you find out a lot more about people when you put them under pressure,” Cox said.

“That's the intent of the camp; to put the players under pressure to see how they respond, and then to debrief and review their leadership capacities.

“It will be a great opportunity for them to grow and get feedback on their leadership and put in some plans around building on that.”
