The 2025 season is rapidly approaching, there's only so many times one can read over the fixture. With that being said, it's been easy to spot some enticing games ahead that will help shape the Saints' season.
These are five games to look forward to in 2025.
Round 1: Adelaide Crows @ Adelaide Oval
It had to be didn’t it?
The start of the season can’t come soon enough, with our first hitout coming against the Crows at the Adelaide Oval on Sunday the 16th of March.
The Saints will be full of energy come Round 1, and will run out full of confidence after finishing their last campaign strong. They will also be looking to exact revenge on the Crows, after falling to them at the same venue by 32 points in Round 18.
While many faces from that clash will take the field once again, the possibility of fresh faces joining the fray is enticing. New recruits Jack Macrae and Jack Carroll will be vying to start the season with the team, while a number of new rookies will also be putting their hands up to make their debut.
The clash against the Crows could also be the home of multiple milestones for the club, with Macrae set to play in his 250th match, Zak Jones one game away from 150 games and Cooper Sharman one away from his 50th.
Round 2: Geelong Cats @ Marvel Stadium
The Saints make their return to Marvel Stadium in Round 2 in 2025, hosting long-time rivals Geelong in a Saturday night clash.
The final home game of 2024 was a carbon copy of this game, hosting the Cats in Round 23. In that clash, the Saints completed a monster comeback in a scintillating second half to run out 18-point winners in the middle of a purple patch to finish the season.
While it wasn’t our final game at Marvel in 2024, (THAT Carlton game was the week after), it was a brilliant way to say goodbye to our members, and a perfect way to welcome them back once again in 2025.
Round 9: Carlton Blues @ MCG
One of the most special days in the calendar, Spud’s Game returns for it’s fifth edition, and second at the MCG, in Round 9 against the Blues.
Spud’s Game began in 2021 as a tribute to Saints legend Danny Frawley, and acts as a marquee match aimed at raising crucial funds for mental health and raising awareness for those that may be suffering.
This season’s edition of the match will feature the very first Spud’s Guernsey, a special edition guernsey with 1000 names sewn in for those that purchased one of their own, whether it be their own name or of someone they love. All of the funds raised from the guernsey go directly to the programs run out of the Danny Frawley Centre, a mental health facility born out of Spud’s legacy at RSEA Park.
The Saints emerged victorious from last year’s clash, defeating the Magpies by 15 points in front of a packed MCG crowd.
Round 12: Melbourne Demons @ TIO Traeger Park
The Saints return to the Red Centre for the first time since 2020, taking on the Demons at TIO Traeger Park for just the second time in the club’s history.
Travelling to the Northern Territory is always an incredible journey, and one that has been circled on the calendar as a must-watch clash.
The fifth away game of our season and the only time we have to travel above Western Sydney for the year, the clash in Alice Springs will be one to remember and is guaranteed to be a memorable experience for fans and players alike.
Round 15: Collingwood Magpies @ Marvel Stadium
A game against the Magpies is one that is always anticipated for every Saints fan heading into a season. But one at Marvel Stadium no less?
The Pies will host the Saints in Round 15 under the roof, a clash that hasn’t taken place at Marvel Stadium with St Kilda as the away side since 2017, with the red, white and black claiming a 14-point victory.
The last clash between the sides came in Round 2 last season for the annual Spud’s Game, with the Saints running away 15-point winners at the MCG.
With the two sides split at two wins a-piece in the last four outings, these clashes are always bound to excite and fill the stands, as two of the longest-standing clubs in the league go head-to-head once again.
