St Kilda Football Club has secured midfielder Koby Stevens, pick No.61 and the Bulldog’s 2017 fourth round pick in a trade deal that was finalised today.
The Saints sent pick 50 and their 2017 round five pick to the Bulldogs as part of the trade.
The Gippsland Power product was selected by West Coast Eagles at pick No. 23 in the 2009 draft and played 11 games over three seasons before moving to Western Bulldogs at the end of 2012.
While an abdominal injury kept him to 12 AFL appearances in 2016, Stevens played 63 games during his time at the Bulldogs.
St Kilda Chief Operating Officer Ameet Bains said that bringing the 25-year-old to Linen House Centre will help bolster the Saints’ midfield depth.
“Along with Jack Steele, we’re thrilled to bring in someone of Koby’s calibre who will really deepen our midfield stocks,” Bains said.
“We’re confident he’ll provide some physical support for our young developing midfielders, as well as players like Steven and Armitage.
“With Koby’s size, aggressive edge and ability to play forward we look forward to him making an impact as a Saint.”
St Kilda FC currently holds picks 23, 36, 61 and 86 in the upcoming 2016 NAB AFL National Draft.
Stevens is currently overseas and unavailable for media interviews.
