Sandringham senior coach and St Kilda development coach Paul Hudson runs a ruler over the individual performance of the Saints-listed players following Saturday's win.
MATCH REPORT: Zebras overcome Port in a thriller
VFL STATS: Round 9
Nathan Wright
Nathan gave us plenty of run and was one of our better players on the weekend. He used his legs really well and had 19 touches and 10 tackles. He’s playing well enough to put his hand up at selection.
Ahmed Saad
Ahmed was probably our best player. It was one of the best games I’ve seen him play because it was so well rounded. For the role he was playing as a small forward, to have 18 touches and eight tackles was a great return. He also had six scoring shots and was at his best on Saturday.
Eli Templeton
Eli didn’t get as much of the ball this week as he has done in previous games. He played on the ball and a little bit on the wing. But even though he didn’t impact the game greatly, he got an opportunity late and slotted a goal from 55. It was a big kick at that stage of the game and he nailed it.
Jason Holmes
Jason had a nearly world record 60 hit outs, which was massive! He controlled the ruck-work like you wouldn’t believe. The best part about Holmesy is he is starting to get out into space and find the footy, which is something we’ve really had to focus on for a while now. His marking has improved rapidly.
Tom Lee
Tommy is becoming Mr Reliable down in defence. The best part about his game is that he didn’t get out-marked and his body work in the contest was good. He’s had some solid games in a row now which is pleasing.

Brenton Payne
Brenton played forward and impacted defensively coming in off the square. He had more handballs than kicks and ideally we’d like that to be the other way around. He’s improving every week and is working hard to develop further.
Daniel McKenzie
Daniel only had 11 disposals but when he got the footy and ran, they couldn’t catch him. He also took a really courageous grab going back with the flight of the ball early in the last quarter.

Arryn Siposs
Arryn came straight back in to the senior VFL team and looked accomplished. He played the majority of the game in the midfield and competed well. Sippo finished with 11 disposals at 100 per cent efficiency and five inside 50s – so he hurt the opposition with his ball use.
Hugh Goddard
Hugh played forward on the weekend. In the first quarter he laid two tackles which set the scene for us as a side, it was awesome. His marking was good and he just looks like he is going to crunch the pack every time he goes near it. He could have easily kicked five, but kicked inaccurately and finished with two. It’s exciting because he looked good down back and equally adept as a forward.

Daniel Markworth
Dan played on the wing and the good thing about him is that when he used his legs, we created opportunities. We were too quick for Port Melbourne with Markworth, McKenzie and Wright breaking the lines. It was a good first game back for Dan.
Lewis Pierce
Lewis got to a lot of contests and brought the ball to ground, which as a tall forward and back-up ruckman, is all we asked of him. He also kicked a goal and played an important role for us. His follow-up work was the best I’ve seen it.
Tom Simpkin
Tommy did a good job on his direct opponent. He was aggressive at the contest and had a good game.
Paddy McCartin
Paddy didn’t have a lot of it with only five touches, but he kicked three goals. He looked dangerous and did his job. It was great to see him and Hugh both playing in the same forward-line. He got a bit of a knock early in the last quarter so didn’t play the last 20 minutes of the game.
DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE
Joe Baker-Thomas
Joe’s spoiling in defence was excellent and we are continuing to work on his offensive game.
