CEO Matt Finnis has welcomed a favourable vote by Kingston City Council to provide financial support for St Kilda Football Club to re-establish a training and administration base as part of a broader sporting redevelopment at Moorabbin.
He said St Kilda had met regularly with Council as part of its push to revitalise the Moorabbin Reserve precinct and put forward an official proposal in February.
“Kingston City Council has voted in favour of our proposal and we welcome their support,” he said.
“Last night’s decision was an important step forward in restoring our club’s presence and involvement with the people of Moorabbin but it’s not the finishing line - there are still a number of matters to work through with stakeholders.”

Finnis said the new proposal would build on the existing plans to upgrade Moorabbin as a community sporting hub that will act as a home for St Kilda’ future stand-alone VFL team, Sandringham Dragons, Southern Football Netball League and South Metro Junior Football League.
He said St Kilda will continue discussions with Frankston City Council about how the club will maintain a relationship with the local area and the future use of Linen House Centre should the Saints re-locate.
