ROOKIE Maverick Weller has been elevated to St Kilda’s senior list and will play in the Saints’ round seven clash against Hawthorn on Saturday.
Senior coach Alan Richardson told the 22-year-old the news on Thursday after capping off an impressing purple patch in the VFL at the weekend with 18 disposals, 11 tackles and two goals under a tag.
"Mav’s form for the whole of the the VFL season, so we’re talking a month or so really, has been really strong,” Richardson said.
“He’s been played predominately midfield with at times a defensive role and he’s been able to execute his role really successfully and he gets his opportunity.
“He’s going to pull on the Saints jumper and we expect him to do it proud with his commitment to execute his role and to give great effort.”
The midfielder, originally from Burnie in Tasmania, has put in memorable performances at Sandringham in recent weeks dominating in the undefeated Zebras’ outfit.

After 32 AFL games across three seasons with Gold Coast, the midfielder was picked up by the Saints in last year’s Rookie Draft at pick No.20.
