MATCH REPORT: Zebras romp to emphatic win

Tom Simpkin

I keep saying the same things about Tommy but he really is having a very consistent season. He tackled well on the weekend and also had 17 disposals.

Ahmed Saad

Ahmed was up and about and kicked straight this week. He worked hard up and back and finished with four goals amongst 18 disposals and five tackles.

Darren Minchington

Darren had 20 possessions,13 tackles and two goals. His clearance work in the last quarter was exceptional and his game in general was extremely good.

Tom Curren

Tommy had a game high 31 possessions and contributed in all areas, especially in the clearance count. His consistency and work rate across the four quarters was especially impressive.

Brodie Murdoch

The main thing was that Brodie got through the game and he did that, playing mostly on the wing and at half-forward. He ran further than any other Sandringham player for the game as recorded on his GPS.

Tom Lee

Tom was good down back for the first half and then we swung him forward for the second half. He had 19 touches, 10 marks and kicked two goals when he moved forward. He looked really good and was one of our better players.

Tim Membrey

Tim looked dangerous all day and although his statistics didn’t reflect that, we were pleased with his output and positioning. It was also probably a bit difficult for Tim coming in and playing with some blokes he had never played with before. Tim finished with three goals and made the most of his chances.

Blake Acres

Blake was best on ground in my opinion with 30 disposals, eight marks and two goals. His last fortnight has been outstanding and he’s become a really good player for us. He breaks the line and works really hard to get to a lot of contests.

Lewis Pierce

Lewis was competitive in the ruck and worked hard around the ground. He and Holmesy formed a good ruck combination.

Nathan Wright

Nathan played in defence in the first half and then up on the wing in the second half to get him up and around the ball. He laid six tackles and it was good to see him getting a chance further up the field in a more attacking role.

Jason Holmes

I thought Jason was one of our best players. He kicked a goal and had 14 disposals, but it was his tap work that was most impressive. The way he fed our midfielders was exceptional.

Spencer White

Spencer started well and got up the ground. He didn’t hit the scoreboard but we were happy with the way he presented further afield.

Farren Ray

Farren had a good first game back. He had 24 possessions playing mostly on the wing and a little bit at half-back. He got through the game unscathed after a long layoff and his touch was clean and effective.

Josh Saunders

Josh had a solid game and put his hand up for senior selection at Sandringham this week.

Joe Baker-Thomas

Joe played on the wing this week because we wanted to challenge him with a new role as opposed to down back. Structurally he was good and he is continuing to learn.
