DAVID Armitage looks set to make his return to football in next Friday night’s clash with Collingwood.

Armitage has not played since sustaining an unusual knee injury in a contest against Adelaide in round four.

After undergoing surgery and spending more than a week in hospital, Armitage has recovered to the point of being available for selection next week.

“He’s only about a week away and he trained today. We should see him against Collingwood,” St Kilda’s head physiotherapist Andrew Wallis told saints.com.au.

Wallis also spoke in detail about injuries to Blake Acres and James Gwilt while Nathan Wright is set to return sooner than expected after rapidly progressing from fracturing his fibula in the same game that Armitage injured his knee.
