Membrey paperwork to be lodged
Forward Tim Membrey is on the cusp of becoming a Saint.
Paperwork will be lodged with the AFL on Saturday, which will see Tim Membrey officially join St Kilda as a de-listed free agent.
The former Swan indicated Linen House Centre was his preferred destination after a deal between the clubs could not be facilitated through the trade period.
Chief Operating Officer Ameet Bains said the 20-year-old would begin training with the Saints when players return on Wednesday.
“We are really pleased that official paperwork will be lodged to allow Tim to train when the first to four year players return from their break,” Bains said.
“From a list management perspective he has attributes that complement our current playing group and we think he will be a great addition in 2015.”
The forward was drafted with pick 46 in the 2012 National Draft and has played one game with the Swans against Essendon in round 19 this year.
He requested a trade to the Saints after limited opportunities in a star-studded Sydney forward line.
“I’m delighted to have a player of Tim’s calibre join the club,” Senior Coach Alan Richardson said.
“While it is still very early in Tim’s football journey he has the potential to play a significant role in the forward line, developing into the midfield as he builds endurance.
“His kicking and marking, as well as his aggressive attack on the footy are real strengths.”
