St Kilda’s 2020 campaign has taken another turn with the Saints now scheduled to meet Fremantle at Metricon Stadium next Saturday.
The Saints and Dockers will meet as part of a revamped Round 6, before Brett Ratten’s side travels to Adelaide to take on the Crows on Monday 20 July.
Reports emerged this morning that the Saints would be relocated to Queensland for the immediate future, with the AFL set to confirm details this afternoon.
The new fixture provides the Saints with a nine-day break before taking on the Dockers, with another eight-day break to follow before the clash with the Crows.
Senior Coach Brett Ratten said the Saints would relish the opportunity to head interstate, and that the club was more than happy to do their bit to keep the competition up and running.
“We’ve been preparing for a hub for a while, and we’re actually looking forward to it," Ratten said.
“There’s opportunities for some real connection. Some of our training sessions have been disconnected because we’ve got to break into six groups or three groups, where we might have a bit more interaction now.
"That’ll allow us to keep understanding each other and growing as a team.
“Every case will be different for everybody, so I think for our players to sit down with their family and friends and talk about it will make the decisions easier.”
More to come.
