Richardson confirmed this morning that Weller would come under heavy consideration from the match committee to play against Hawthorn this Saturday.
“Weller’s done some really impressive performances running with and controlling opposition in the VFL,” Richardson said.
“He’s just about ready to go - It may be that he gets an opportunity this week if not, it will certainly be in the coming weeks if his form continues.”
Although Weller is currently on the club’s rookie list, he is eligible to be placed on the senior list due to Nathan Wright being on the long-term injury list.
Sandringham assistant coach Paul Hudson told SAINTS.com.au on Monday that Weller would deserve his elevation from the rookie list should he receive it.

“He actually got tagged this week, so the opposition did their homework, but despite this, he did really well to have an influence on the game,” Hudson said.“He worked through it with 18 possessions, 11 tackles and two goals.
“The tackling especially was monumental and I don’t make the decisions, but if he does get elevated to the senior list then he deserves it.”
Meanwhile, Richardson also confirmed that veteran defender Sam Fisher will return through the VFL with Sandringham this week after just falling short of lining up against Brisbane last week.
Fisher, who is recovering from a back injury, travelled with the squad to Wellington last week but was not able to prove his fitness during training.
“Fisher will play in the VFL this week,” Richardson said.
“He travelled with us to New Zealand; we were really hopeful that he would be able to play but he didn’t quite get up in the training session.
“The reality is, he is a really important player but he’s missed too much footy now so he’ll play VFL and play some fairly significant minutes and hopefully, depending on how plays and how he covers the ground, he might be a chance the following week.”
