Sweeping changes to the line-up are on the horizon following St Kilda’s triple-figure loss to the Western Bulldogs on Saturday night.

The Saints were sliced right open at Marvel Stadium as their opposition’s sharp midfield – without Adam Treloar for the second half – bullied their way to a 111-point belting with little resistance.

It’s St Kilda’s fourth loss this season in excess of 50 points, while its percentage (72.6) is only ahead of North Melbourne (56.3) after 10 rounds.

"It's unacceptable and we've got to do something about it,” Brett Ratten said post-match.

“We can't just keep going with this and have a good quarter here or there. Players who aren't performing will have to go back to the twos.

They were told that post-game around some of the gaps between their best and their worst and then that affects the team as well. We spoke about that.

"We've got some players in pretty good form in the reserves and we'll have to make some changes because we can't have that."

Saturday’s smashing opens the door for midfielder Luke Dunstan and Mason Wood, who were again among Sandringham’s best this weekend against Aspley.

Dunstan has played just two out of a possible 29 games over the past season-and-a-half, missing majority of last year with a pectoral injury.

He’s amassed 146 disposals and eight goals from his four VFL outings this season, inclusive of a 46-possession haul in Round 2.

Ben Long, Nick Coffield and Darragh Joyce along with ruckman Paul Hunter are also in reserve.

"Eight days ago [after the Cats clash] win, lose or draw you hold your head up high. But after that you don't know where to look and we can't have that," Ratten said.

"It's a tough game, but you can't just drop off the face of the earth and have a performance like that."

"If we keep going up and playing reasonable footy and then falling the next week or a week later it's going to be pretty tough for us.

"We as a team need to deal with some of the facts in front of us right now and we can't have the fluctuation in games like we are."
