St Kilda has confirmed its second trade from this year’s AFLW Sign & Trade Period, with Claudia Whitfort to join Gold Coast in exchange for pick No. 36 (Vic No. 21).
Beginning her AFLW career at Melbourne in 2018 without ever playing competitive football at any level, Whitfort joined St Kilda via the trade period ahead of its maiden season in 2020.
The inside midfielder played in the club’s inaugural game at RSEA Park, going on to line up in a further nine matches for the Saints.
“We’d like to thank Claudia for everything she’s invested into the club and her teammates over the past two seasons,” Head of Women’s Football Jamie Cox said.
“While it’s always difficult to see players depart, we were more than willing to facilitate a trade to allow her to pursue this opportunity and be closer to family.
“Claudia has a bright future ahead and we wish her all the best for her time at Gold Coast. She will always be a part of the St Kilda family.”
Whitfort joins ruck Poppy Kelly in finding a new home for the upcoming 2021/22 AFLW Season.
St Kilda currently holds pick No. 4, 22, 25, 36, 39, 48 and 54, with pick No. 25 a priority selection.
