St Kilda Football Club is thrilled to announce that international film star, Eric Bana, has become the Saints Number One Ticket Holder.
The talented Australian actor, who has played alongside Brad Pitt, Adam Sandler and Scarlett Johansson in a variety of films overseas and back home in Australia, was in Melbourne to accept the honour at St Kilda’s Round 13 blockbuster against Geelong.
As a Saints supporter for all of his life, 41 year old Bana is never shy to show his love of the red, white and black. Promoting the Club internationally with his 2009 film ‘Funny People’, Eric makes it a priority to enjoy the atmosphere at St Kilda games and support his beloved Saints whenever he and his family have ventured home to Melbourne during an AFL season.
Taking over this prestigious position from former President Lindsay Fox, Fox graciously handed over the baton to Bana and now joins former Governor-General, Sir Zelman Cowan as a Patron of the St Kilda Football Club.
Speaking of his new role, Eric Bana said; “I am thrilled and honoured to be invited by the St Kilda Football Club to be the Number One Ticket Holder.”
“Like all the Saints fans and members, who have been fanatical since birth, I get enormous joy following the Club through the cycle of victory & defeat.”
“The Saints are a great Club, with great loyal members and my time in the stands at Moorabbin, Waverley and Etihad Stadium continues to form a major part of my DNA”
St Kilda CEO Michael Nettlefold said; “Eric is already a great ambassador for our Club both here in Australia and overseas. He has a unique passion for St Kilda, an obsession that he shares with over 40,000 Saints members.
“We are of course delighted to be able to now formally recognise Eric’s unprompted support he has given the Saints over many years.”
“We would like to appropriately say thanks to Lindsay Fox for his contribution to the Saints and we are pleased to have him now join us a Patron of the Club.”
“Everyone at the Club would like to welcome Eric into this new role, and we look forward to working with him to further promote our brand and of course see him enjoy as many Saints games as possible over the coming years.”
