A historic women's and men's double-header has been locked in for next month, with St Kilda's AFLW side to host Brisbane RSEA Park in its first official practice match of the season on the same day its men's team battles the Lions at Marvel Stadium.
In a first for the league, all teams in the 18-club AFLW competition will play the same opponents as their men’s counterparts across the weekend, aligning with the Round 22 fixture.
St Kilda's AFLW practice match will take place on Friday 12 August at 3:30pm at RSEA Park.
“It’s incredibly exciting to be another step closer towards Season 7,” Head of AFLW Tessie McManus said.
“We’ve been hard at work throughout this pre-season, so we're eager to put that to the test against one of the most established sides of the competition.
“Friday’s practice match will be the first time to see as many as eight new Saints – including Nicola Stevens, Grace Kelly and Erin McKinnon – in action, as well as the returning Georgia Patrikios and Clara Fitzpatrick.
“We hope to see plenty of Saints fans at RSEA Park for our practice match with Brisbane, and look forward to welcoming everyone back to our home once the season kicks off.”
St Kilda will play five games at RSEA Park as part of AFLW Season 7, with four of those to take place throughout October.
More details around both matches will be confirmed shortly.
