For Indigenous Australians, January 26 is a day of mourning not celebration. It represents the displacement of families and a loss of country and identity at the hands of colonisation.
To achieve true reconciliation, we need to listen, learn and understand Australia’s history, the good and the bad. Acknowledging the past allows us to work towards a better, more inclusive future.
St Kilda Football Club is proud that more than 30 Indigenous athletes have represented the club across its history, including seven current players.
As a whole club, we continue to learn. We’re all united on our yawa, our journey, to make our club a safe place of cultural equality and inclusion.
