Jack Steele will once again lead the Saints, with the two-time All Australian confirmed as captain for the club’s 150th year.
Steele will be aptly supported by first-time vice-captain, Callum Wilkie, with Tim Membrey, Seb Ross and Jack Sinclair rounding out the five-man leadership group.
This will be the third season with Steele at the helm; his second as standalone captain.
“I’m so proud to lead this club in what is such a special year for everyone who bleeds red, white and black,” Steele said.
“Every time I pull on the jumper, the significance of representing generations of Saints fans, staff and players isn’t wasted on me.
“I’m really looking forward to working closely with Cal, someone I’m lucky to call a close friend.
“To see Cal grow into the respected and deserving leader he is today is something I’m very proud of and I know he’ll do great things in this role.”
Mature-aged rookie selection Wilkie hasn’t missed a game since debuting in 2019, with his vocal influence on-field and ability to drive his teammates off it making him a clear standout for the vice captaincy.
“My opportunity to play AFL football came a little later than most, and I made a promise to myself to make the absolute most of my time at the highest level,” Wilkie said.
“To be voted in as vice-captain is a true honour and something I certainly don’t take for granted.
I love this club and want to do the fans and my teammates proud in our 150th year.
“We’ve got a really well-respected and capable group of leaders on our list, in both official and unofficial capacities, with players young and old encouraged to use their voice and play their role in making us better as a collective.”
Sinclair’s inclusion in the group marks his first official leadership role, while Ross and Membrey will serve their sixth and fifth terms respectively.
