Jack Hayes’ rehabilitation from a foot injury has received another blow, with scans confirming a significant strain to his left hamstring which will sideline him for a minimum of eight weeks.

St Kilda’s forward line will be due for a boost in the coming weeks however, with key forward Max King (hamstring) on track to return to full contact training this week.

“It’s obviously a disappointing result for Jack, who had put in a mountain of work in overcoming a series of long-term injuries,” Acting General Manager of Football David Misson said.

“As frustrating as this setback is for Jack, we have full confidence that he will continue to approach his recovery with the same professionalism he’s conducted himself with over the past year.

“We will remain patient with Max as he builds himself back up to full fitness, but are excited at the prospect of having him re-join our main group.”

Meanwhile, Jimmy Webster (fractured cheekbone) has received the all-clear from surgeons to resume training with the main group by Friday, leaving Zak Jones (Achilles) to ease his way back in as he continues to increase his workload.

Olli Hotton (back), Angus McLennan (back) and Matty Allison (foot) are expected to complete their respective recoveries post-bye, while Dan McKenzie has taken promising steps forward in his rehabilitation from a calf setback.
