Paddy Dow

22 disposals, five clearances, seven tackles

Solid game for Paddy without setting the world alight. He produced some good moments to take us forward, but his contest-to-contest running was inconsistent at times against Essendon’s strong midfield.

Isaac Keeler

Eight disposals, Three marks, two tackles

It was an inconsistent game for Isaac this week off the back of a few strong performances. At times, we saw some good opportunities for him to impact the forward-50 that he didn’t quite take on. Was positive to see his chase and defensive pressure stay reliable throughout the game.

Zaine Cordy

Seven disposals, five kicks, two tackles

Zaine only played a quarter and a half on Sunday. He was going okay before coming off with an adductor injury (1-2 weeks).

Angus Hastie

16 disposals, one goal, three tackles

Angus suffered a bad knock in the first 10-minutes but kept fighting and running all day. He showed good signs both in the contest and defensively as he helped to win the ball back for us.

Arie Schoenmaker

29 disposals, 22 kicks, five marks

It was Arie’s first game back in the VFL for a while. We saw him claim the most intercept possessions for us which was pleasing, but there was opportunity for growth with defensive intent and ability to win the contest when out of possession.

Matthew Allison

10 disposals, seven tackles, three marks

A quiet game impact-wise for Matthew, it just wasn’t the day for big men inside-50. Positively, he had the third most score involvements and his tackle numbers were up, we thought he did a pretty good job for the conditions.

Ben Paton

20 disposals, four marks, three clearances

A full game in the midfield this week for Ben. He got outworked aerobically contest to contest against a good midfield but was pretty strong for us around the ball, so we’ll look to keep working on that as a focus.

Hugo Garcia

18 disposals, 15 tackles, two clearances

A similar situation to the other midfielders this week against a strong opposition, but we still admired Hugo’s hunt with 15 tackles and five ground ball-gets. There were a couple of opportunities for him to be cleaner in the wet, but overall, he had 100 per cent effort and intent which we love to see.

Tom Campbell

24 hit-outs, 14 disposals, seven tackles

Tom spent more time as a forward this week, which was a different challenge for him. Overall, we thought he was able to stand up and provide a good contest for us. Different roles require different focus so a good learning week for him.

Oli Hotton

22 disposals, six tackles, five clearances

A stronger game for Oli this week as we saw him drive his legs and provide good body work and clearances for us. He had the opportunity to play the scenarios and kick it in the wet a bit better, but overall showed growth.

Angus McLennan

20 disposals, seven marks, three tackles

Angus played as a high half-back this week, taking some good intercept marks and possessions. We saw him drop off his opposition a few times which you can do as a deeper defender, but we’ll look to work on adjusting to what a high half-back requires, playing a little tighter.

Max Heath

18 hit-outs, 19 disposals, one goal

Max played as our number one ruck this week against Nick Bryan. It was a good battle, although Bryan looked to win the war. At times, we saw Max get pushed out too easily at centre bounce and clearances which we’ll look to work on. In his own words, his follow-up work can look to improve. Competed well overall.

Liam O’Connell

10 disposals, five tackles, two marks

Liam’s trademark defence wasn’t as rampant this week, but he found a way to fight through to make impact in the last quarter. He had been sick in the lead-up so was good to see him get up after missing a couple of days.

FOR THE ZEBRAS

Hugo Hall-Kahan

20 disposals, one goal, 14 kicks

Another strong performance by Hugo this week playing as a high half-forward. He was dominant on attack for us, holding the most score involvements, inside-50s and had two shots on goal. Stood up on a tough day.

Blake Watson

16 disposals, one goal, three marks

'Blake' in case of emergency is the term we like to use when needing to inject aid into our midfield. He’s a bull, fights hard to win the ball and kicks it well. Fourteen kicks and two handballs show he can play well to the conditions. Wish we put him in the guts a little earlier to help us get the ball forward.
