Time has run out a number of Saints pushing to return from injury, with the final round of the home and away season coming too soon.
“It was a close call for a few of our players, particularly Seb Ross, who is probably only another week or so away from a return,” EGM Football David Misson said.
“But on the whole, it’s easy to give the guys a clean break and allow them to have any surgery or treatment required sooner rather than later.”
One such player is Anthony Caminiti, who will have further consultation with specialists later this week after re-injuring an ongoing shoulder injury in Saturday night’s win over Geelong.
“We’ll await confirmation from the professionals, but it’s looking likely at this stage that Anthony will require surgery on that shoulder.”
Pleasingly Bradley Hill has avoided ineligibility after suffering back spasms, which saw him subbed out of Round 23.
“Bradley will need to complete training, but we’re confident he’ll line up against the Blues this week.”
Mattaes Phillipou will aim to return to football this week, having overcome his recent illness.
