JACK Billings is a polished midfielder with elite kicking skills on both sides and a keen eye for goal.
The Scotch College pupil shot to prominence in the NAB Under-18 Championships in 2012 when he impressed as a 16-year-old on the forward-flank despite being ineligible for the draft. His performances drew wide acclaim, and since then he has been touted as a top five pick at this year’s draft.
Despite a knee injury that limited him to just three games for Vic Metro this season, he finished the carnival strongly with 26 and 32 disposals respectively in the last two matches and averaged 24.7 touches per game in the TAC Cup.
The 18-year-old hunts the footy relentlessly and rarely wastes a possession. While he is elusive and skilful on the outside, his work in the clinches is equally valuable and complements a body which looks ready-made for AFL football.
Billings is dynamic, skilful, clever, is highly competitive and has the potential to change a game with a raking left foot kick or strong mark up forward.
Oakleigh region manager Mark Smart describes Billings as a “genuine match-winner who has proved that on a number of occasions at all levels.”
