The generosity of St Kilda’s official club sponsors has seen an additional $23,000 go towards Maddie Riewoldt’s Vision (MRV).
Dare Iced Coffee, McDonald’s, RSEA Safety and Pepper Money all pledged significant funds following the five-year anniversary of Maddie’s Match, with Dare Iced Coffee contributing $10,000 in the hopes of finding a cure for Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes (BMFS).
The donation from the club’s sponsors adds to the $1 million pledged by Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt on behalf of the Australian Government to fund a new clinical trial for high-risk patients.
The ReSELECT clinical trial will develop a platform to deliver innovative treatments, including cutting edge cellular and gene therapies, to those who will be affected by BMFS in the future.
St Kilda wore purple socks in honour of the late Maddie Riewoldt in Saturday’s 26-point victory over Richmond.
Since its inception in 2015, MRV has raised over $8 million, established the world’s first Centre of Research Excellence in Bone Marrow Biology and is currently committing funds towards the establishment of the Australian Marrow Failure Biobank.
